Mike Huckabee's fortunes in Iowa are going up. The national media is scratching their heads in disbelief, even though Huckabee did very well in the straw poll in Ames despite negative predictions. The evangelicals in Iowa cannot be underestimated.
It's funny how evangelicals block out certain things. Most are rabidly anti-immigration, but Huckabee has supported paying college tuition for illegal immigrants. He is traveling all over Iowa touting his connection to Jesus, in churches and outside of churches. I can tell you one thing, he is totally alienating mainstream republicans, who will never vote for him in a general election.
But Huckabee is suffering from some bad press from his own state. Seems that many people in Arkansas have quite a few bad things to say about Huckabee. And Romney is letting him have it too.
