It's getting hotter in the hot seat for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. FBI Chief Mueller contradicted Gonzales' version of the truth regarding a bizarre 2004 sick-bed confrontation with then-attorney general John Ashcroft.
It seems our esteemed AG was trying to bully a barely coherent Ashcroft into silence about his objections to a super-secret NSA spy campaign.
Gonzales could have avoided all of this by simply resigning from office when the public outcry for his release was at its height two months ago. But now, he forces the congress of the United States to investigate his wrongdoing, taking valuable time away from other important issues.
Gonzales and his cronies in the Justice Department are also being pressured by congress to testify about who-knew-what during the firing process of nine federal prosecutors.
All I keep thinking of these days is how the congress relentlessly pursued Bill Clinton into impeachment for lying about sex. And how serious these charges are in comparison.
