It is no surprise that a poll of young people jointly conducted by The New York Times, CBS and MTV shows that American youth increasingly identify themselves as more liberal than their older counterparts. The poll also shows the continuation of the long drift away from the republican party.
The poll also found that young people are more accepting of gay marriage and open borders. This age group also revealed that they are more likely to vote democratic in the next election. Coincidentally, they rate George W. Bush lower than the general public does.
By using divisive issues as the core of their campaign message for the last 10 years, republicans are setting themselves up for a loss. It seems the youth of today are less worried about policy and more concerned about treating people fairly. Makes perfect sense to me.
