Obama is a little late in the TV ad game. Dodd and Richardson have both had ads on in Des Moines for months, and Hillary and Edwards, the front runners in Iowa, have incredible organizations on the ground.
Despite a news article to the contrary a few weeks ago, it seems that the Obama campaign is finally getting out in front of the camera.
Obama is third right now in the state and the campaign is having a tough time finding its groove. He has plenty of white supporters, and plenty of fine young people flooding in from Chicago and Detroit to work for him. What I haven't heard yet is who the majority of Iowa's small black community is supporting. I'm not making the mistake of thinking that all black people will automatically be voting for Obama, but even if they did, blacks only make up about 5% of the total population of the state.
Despite his place in the polls, Obama has hired a top-notch Iowa director in Paul Tewes. Tewes directed a kick-ass Gore throw down of Bill Bradley in the 2000 Iowa caucuses.
